PAU BACKYARD ULTRA RULES ARE SIMPLE:
This is a self-supported event – bring everything you need to take on the challenge.
A new lap starts every hour on the hour.
Complete your 4.167-mile loop before the next one begins.
Be at the start line each hour. No exceptions.
Only one runner can win. Everyone else is a DNF, whether you run 4 miles or 100.

WHY DO RUNNERS LOVE BACKYARD ULTRAS?
Because it’s equal parts physical and psychological warfare. You don’t have to be fast, just relentless.
Here’s what the math looks like:
24 hours = 100 miles
36 hours = 150 miles
And it keeps going until only one remains…

WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS ULTRA MARATHON?
You’re in it for the challenge but we’ve still got you covered.
From race support to survival essentials, here’s what’s included when you sign up for PAU’s Backyard Ultra:
✔️ Fully marked trail route
✔️ Participation momento
✔️ PAU water bottle
✔️ Event photos
✔️ Access to the central “backyard” base camp
✔️ PAU support crew
✔️ Firepit vibes & brutal honesty – Bring your own camping gear if you want to get comfy in between runs!

THIS IS AN ULTRA RUN YOU WILL NOT FORGET
Friends and family welcome! The start/finish area is open to supporters all weekend. The bigger your hype crew, the better your chances.
But be warned: this is a fully self-sufficient event. You’ll need to bring everything you need to keep going such as camp chairs, gazebos, supplies, stubbornness… all of it.
This is no ordinary ultra. This is the event for runners who don’t know when to quit — and don’t want to find out.
Only one finisher. Will it be you?
