10 FREE PLACES TO VISIT IN CHESHIRE WITH THE KIDS
Take the kids up to the cloud!
One of the best views in the country, in our opinion. Head up to the Cloud in Congleton for views far and wise and feel like you’re in the Lion King. The walk is doable with small people in tow, so don’t worry about the climb. Enjoy the views and have a cuppa while you’re up there if you remember to take a flask.
Make some farm friends
Also in Congleton, is Glebe Farm. Packed with things for the kids to do, tractors and some animals, it gives real farmyard fun which we all love a bit of. Enjoy saying hello to the pigs and the goats, and explore the farm shop while you’re there – it would be rude not to, right?
Race up to The Edge
Alderley Edge is one of the most glorious places in Cheshire, with trails spanning far and wide it is the perfect place to get lost in for the day. Don’t literally race to the edge, of course, but with dramatic views and plenty of trees to marvel at, it is a firm favourite for us.
Roll your trouser legs up
Riverside Park in Macclesfield has plenty to explore and a stream or two to paddle in if the weather is looking shiny for you. More of a stop off than a day out but sometimes that’s just what you need.
Dive into Delamere with the Kids
Delamere, Delamere, we love you. From the woodlands to the Gruffalo trail, as well as being a hop skip and a jump from Blakemere. We love the walks and rides around here, be warned that they can get a little muddy – but we would like to think that it’s all part of the fun!
Take the Kids to Blakemere Village
Take a stroll around Blakemere Village and see what treasures, antiques, and wonders you can find. It’s free to wander but then you can take a look in the shops and check out the falconry experiences, which are just as spectacular as they sound. Visit PAU Blakemere too while you’re there and come and see what goodies we have in store. Shop, stay, eat, and play, there is so much to see and do and it is a fab day out for the family.
Meet White Nancy
Up in Bollington lives White Nancy. A legend to behold and the perfect walk if you’re looking to blow off the cobwebs and get some good Cheshire air in your lungs. It’s right on the top of Kerridge Hill, and it makes for the perfect circular walk with the family in tow. It’s just over three miles long and best on a clear day – but we can’t work weather miracles in the UK!
Catch the nose
Tegg’s Nose in Macclesfield is perfect for the little ones to get on their bikes and explore. Winding paths and big tall trees make for the perfect day wandering and exploring. There is a cafe in the car park with good coffee and cake, but if you want to pack a picnic you will be spoilt for choice in places to stop off.
Explore the Walls
Now for the culture, head into Chester and explore the walls and everything that they have seen and heard. We love finding out more about this gorgeous city, and a walk along the river is always a fun way to end a trip.
Plan for a Paddle
Visit Congleton outdoor swimming pool for a splash and a good time. Check the opening times (and the weather) before you go,
