Here are our 5 recommended Peak District Trails to add to your list of adventures…
Best for: Riders
Difficulty: Variable
Cycling Duration: 3+ Hours
Distance: 22+ Miles
We’ve picked out one of the harder routes but, if you know Cannock Chase, you will know that there is something for just about everyone. Spoilt for choice, you can take the family for a day out or head there on your own for your own kind of adventure. Plenty of people if you need advice or get stuck, and so much to explore.
Best for: Runners
Difficulty: Intermediate
Running Duration: 1.5+ Hours
Distance: 3.5+ Miles
Perfect circular running route for those wanting to see the sights of the Peaks. If you go on a warm day, cool off and get rid of the mud with a dip in the Three Shires. This route is an intermediate one but if you are feeling spicy or need to take it down a notch, then this route can be adapted to suit. Not a runner? This route is a lovely peak district walking trail too.
Best for: Riders
Difficulty: Intermediate
Cycling Duration: 1.5+ Hours
Distance: 10+ Miles
A fantastic cycling route in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside for advanced riders. Be sure to pay a visit to Devil’s Staircase on this trail, it’s a good ten miler with 1,000 feet of elevation. We love this corner of the world and there is never a dull moment when you’re in this neck of the woods. You might have to get off and push your bike a couple of times but if you can manage that bit then you will love this route.
Best for: Runners
Difficulty: Intermediate
Running Duration: 2+ Hours
Distance: 4+ Miles
A stunning 4+ mile route suitable for runners, riders, or walkers, it’s a challenging route with some tricky terrains but one that we love time and time again. Be sure to grab a moment to take in the sights as you go as there’s plenty of wildlife in this stunning nature reserve in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside.
Best for: Riders
Difficulty: Intermediate
Riding Duration: 1.5+ Hours
Distance: 10+ Miles
It might look like an easier route but we love it all the same. Still an intermediate ride, this one hasn’t got as much rocky terrain to contend with, but with a stop at The Pudding Room and plenty of views to slow down and admire, this one makes for a great group ride. Gather your gang and plan a day trip, and seriously, plan some time for cake.
