Spring Forward 2026: The Ideal Ride for Staffordshire Cyclists to Start the Season
Spring is when cycling in Staffordshire comes alive — lighter mornings, drier roads and a proper chance to test your winter miles. That’s where Spring Forward 2026 fits in.
Taking place on Sunday 19th April 2026, this 100km Staffordshire sportive opens PAU’s 2026 Cycling Series and is a popular early-season marker for local riders.
Joining us on the day is Sean Conway, the world-record-holding endurance athlete who has cycled, swam and run the length of Britain. Sean will be meeting riders at the start and delivering a pre-ride pep talk to get everyone fired up for the season ahead.
This is the first ride in our 3-Ride Cycling Sportive Series across 2026.

- Made of Stone 2026 – a 100km ride that mixes tarmac with gravel, green lanes, bridleways, and other mixed-surface roads taking place on 28th June.

A Staffordshire Route Worth Riding
Starting from Hanbury, the Spring Forward route takes in some of Staffordshire’s quieter country lanes. Expect rolling terrain, scenic lanes, and a route that keeps things interesting without being intimidating.
At around 100km, it’s a distance that challenges you while remaining achievable for riders who’ve been keeping up winter training or are stepping up to their first long ride of the year. Spring Forward gives cyclists the chance to explore Staffordshire in a fresh way, discovering hidden gems along the way rather than sticking to the usual popular routes.
Final route info is shared with participants by email once we’ve done our last check of the route. Expect an email in your inbox on the Thursday or Friday before the ride.
Built For Riders, Not Just The Miles
Spring Forward is about enjoying the ride as much as completing it. The event offers:
- Fully signed route with downloadable GPX files for confidence on the bike
- Feed Station Checkpoints – Refuel and recharge with delicious snacks and drinks courtesy of PAU Café. Riders loved these last year!
- Mechanical support on the day to keep you moving
- First aid cover along the route to ride safely
- Finisher’s medal to mark the achievement
Everything is designed so riders can focus on the roads, scenery, and riding with a great community.
